Coach Cliff gives his thoughts on our first league game

Hi Chieftains Fans,

I hope you’re all well and having a nice week.

Obviously the weekend did not go as planned, there’s no point trying to paint it any differently. For one reason or another we came out looking slow and predictable and just couldn’t get ourselves going, Solent are hard to play against and always give us a tough game, but I can’t remember the last time it took us 59 minutes of a game to score a goal.  The good news for you is that it’s not your job to figure out why it went wrong and what we need to do to fix it, it’s mine and although it is far from ideal there will always be bad performances across a season it’s just not nice when it happens in the first game!

This weekend we know we will have to be better, playing in one of the toughest rinks in the league on Saturday against Invicta followed by another road game in Swindon, again a rink that is a tricky prospect where you have to be at your best to get a result. We know we have to play hard and fast for our team to succeed and we need to be disciplined within that.

Losses don’t sit comfortably with us as a group so we will be working hard in practice this weekend to make amends and be ready for the weekend.
