Cliff & Clema return

Exciting news - our coaching team is back!

We are beyond excited to announce the return of Head Coach Lewis Clifford and Assistant Coach Ben Clements to the bench!

Cliff’s leadership and commitment to growth of the team has been essential to our success, and we’re thrilled to have him back for another season. His passion for the game and drive to bring out the best in each player is a true inspiration.

Assistant Coach Ben Clements’ expertise and dedication to developing our players has been a key part of this seasons progress. His energy and focus on building a strong, cohesive team make him a perfect fit alongside Cliff.

With these two, we’re ready to take on the new season and work towards even more success.

Coach Cliff commented on his return and the re-signing of Clema

“After a few weeks off, I am looking forward to coming back to Chelmsford for my 3rd season. Whilst sometimes the weeks go slowly, the years have flown by and it is tough to believe it was 2 years ago that I was putting my first Chieftains team together.  In the 2 years I have been at the Riverside we have won a lot of games and a couple of trophies which have been massive highlights for us all, it’s important never to forget winning or try to diminish it, however it will always be the ones we didn’t win that annoy me and I probably spend more time thinking about those ones that got away.  Whilst I still have that competitive fire burning and an internal need to compete, I will carry on coaching and doing my very best for this organisation.  I still want to drive forward and keep competing to bring more trophies back to this amazing club, so we go again for 2025-26.

I am very fortunate to work for such a well run club with such a good core of players and with great staff around us, working with Clem last season helped me massively and he makes my life so much easier so I am delighted to keep that partnership going for another year.”

Coach Clema commented “Really happy to back working with Cliff and the team for the new season, definitely feel we have more to come as a team after last season and can’t wait to get started. Looking forward to seeing you all again come September.”
