Ben Russell returns...

The talented defenceman returns for another season!

We’re proud to announce that Ben Russell is officially back with the Chelmsford Chieftains after time away from the ice due to illness.

Ben’s strength and determination off the ice have been nothing short of inspiring, and we’re thrilled to see him lacing up again, ready to bring his trademark leadership and rock-solid defence back to the lineup.

Welcome back, Benny — you’ve been missed! 

Cliff commented “It will be great to have Benny back in the lineup next year. He had started last season in his usual style before he got sick and wasn’t really able to contribute the rest of the way. Benny is someone I have coached on and off pretty much the whole time he’s been playing the game and I know I can always trust him to do the right thing at the right time, aside from his performance on the ice, he is very helpful to have around to mentor the young D men in the team and helps get the best out of them whilst focussing on his own game.”

On talking about his return Benny commented “Im really looking forward to being back with the chieftains for season three/two and a quarter! Last season was a really hard one for me. Starting the year as normal and then coming down with an illness which I thought would only last a couple of weeks but typically lasted the whole season and beyond. To miss out on a whole year like that was gutting. To watch us miss out on the playoff weekend from the balcony was something I found really tough. I can’t wait to be back doing what I do come September, being back with all the boys properly, playing for all of you in the stands and hunting down a couple of trophies. Enjoy the rest of the summer and see you all soon.”
