Sammy Russell returns to the black 'n' gold for the 25/26 season

We are pleased to announce that Sammy Russell returns to the Black and Gold, bringing his trademark versatility and grit whether it’s shutting things down on defense or stepping forward Sammy is comfortable playing wherever the team needs him.

Cliff commented ‘It is great that Sammy is able to commit to playing another season with the Chieftains, he is someone I have known most of his life and all of his hockey career and he brings so much to the group, he is able to play in a variety of positions and will do so without any fuss.  I am looking forward to seeing Sammy back on the ice this weekend as we get our pre season underway and get some game time under our belts.’ 

When asked about the return Sammy commented ‘I’m really happy I can play again for Chelmsford this year. A year ago I said this looked like a loved club, and after just one season I’ve felt that love from the fans, the staff and my teammates. The fans are the best and the loudest in the league, and ‘that’ Streatham game is all the proof you need for that and those moments are what we play for. I want to build on last year, and help the team and Cliff in any way I can. Go on the Chiefs❤️’
